How to test Android apps on your phone on Arch Linux

In order to test/run your android apps using your phone on your Arch Linux machine you need to do the following:

  1. Download Android SDK
  2. Unpack it somewhere.
  3. Create the following file as root: vim /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
  4. Paste the following code in it(Change user to your name):
    SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0bb4", ATTRS{idProduct} =="0c01", MODE="0666", OWNER="user"
    SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0bb4", ATTRS{idProduct} =="0c02", MODE="0666", OWNER="user"
    SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="22b8", ATTRS{idProduct} =="41db", MODE="0666", OWNER="user"
  5. Make this file executable: chmod a+r /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
  6. Restart udev using: udevadm control restart
  7. Connect your phone to your computer.On the phone, go to the home screen, press MENU, select Applications > Development, then enable USB debugging.
  8. Go to tools directory of the SDK you just downloaded. As root run ./adb devices. You should be able to see your device.
  9. On eclipse, when running your app, select your phone as the target.
